2 Post-Doc Fellowships at the Institute for Advanced Study Konstanz (Kulturwissenschaftliches Kolleg Konstanz)

The University of Konstanz is one of the nine "Exzellenz-Universitäten" in Germany. The Center of Excellence "Cultural Foundations of Integration" offers an organizational framework for research in "Kulturwissenschaften" at the University of Konstanz. As part of Germany´s state and federal "excellence initiative", it will be sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (the main German foundation for academic research). The Center represents an effort to draft a pathbreaking model of research in the humanities and social sciences. It is meant to create an environment for intensive cooperative research without losing sight of the special characteristics of individualized scholarship. Beginning on a foundation of empirical research into the phenomena of social integration and disintegration, ranging across individual periods and including all social strata, we hope to endow the concept of culture with renewed incisiveness and an important role in new theoretical reflections.
