DoS Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Request for Proposals: Democracy, Human Rights and Rule of Law for countries in Africa, East Asia and the Pacific, Europe, South and Central Asia, the Near East, and the Western Hemisphere.

Armenia (approximately $750,000 available): DRL seeks to fund projects directed at building the capacity of human rights organizations in Armenia and improving coordination between them. Project proposals may address building organizational capacity to effectively monitor human rights conditions, implement projects and advocacy campaigns, and/or develop coordination networks to strengthen reporting and improve human rights promotion efforts in the country.

Turkey-Armenia Regional (approximately $700,000 available): In light of current political efforts to normalize Turkish-Armenian relations,DRL seeks to fund projects that identify avenues for building tolerance between ethnic Turks and ethnic Armenians and strengthening cooperation between Turkish and Armenian civil societies as a foundation for long-term reconciliation. Project proposals may include suggestions for tolerance-building programs, NGO exchanges, joint advocacy projects or other people-to-people programs aimed at key groups (including youth, policymakers, NGO activists, religious leaders, etc.) with the opportunity to impact others in their society. Project activities could focus on issues of civil society development, increasing freedom of expression, democracy and pluralism, or combating issues of common concern (e.g. trafficking in persons, corruption, etc.).
