School-funded partial scholarship (for all UK/EU and international students). The amount of the studentship is yet to be finalised, but we intend to give 2/3 studentships which will pay all of the first year PhD fees for a home/EU student and around £10,000 towards the first year fees of an overseas student.
This Scholarship is available for new research students who wish to start around September 2010. In exceptional cases the studentship might be made available to an existing research student who is making excellent progress and who is currently encountering financial hardship.
Selection criteria: Applicants will be judged on the basis of academic excellence (you must expect a first class honours degree or Masters distinction, or a 2:1/Merit and additional evidence), strength of research proposal, and strength of supervisor supporting statement.
To apply: You must email a completed application to Rona Wilson (r.j.wilson@bradford .ac.uk) by 4pm on Friday 28th May. You application must consist of:
1. A CV and transcript of your marks to date.
2. A research proposal consisting of at most 2 sides of A4 (in Times New Roman 11 point font or equivalent). Your proposal should provide (a) background for your chosen area (including appropriate references) (b) information about the research questions you will address and (c) a brief summary of methodologies you might use.
3. A supporting statement (an attached email is fine) from a supervisor who is willing to supervise you in this topic.
Please approach potential supervisors directly (by email). A good place to start finding an appropriate supervisor is at http://iri.brad. ac.uk/.
