More power for the president

Ex Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan thinks that the existing Constitution is better from the view of property protection, and now in Armenia property is distributed with the same proportion as the parliamentary places are distributed among the coalition powers in the National Assembly. According to Mr. Bagratyan it doesn’t matter what they say about this, but these amendments don’t include any judicial reforms.

As for the power of the president, it is actually not limited with this new Draft, but it is enlarged and the president will have more power. “On the other hand the institution of the president is more democratic in our country. At least during presidential elections people elect only one person, but during parliamentary elections the competition is stronger and more intensive when struggling for 131 places, thus electoral bribe is more widespread”,-said Hrant Bagratyan.
