US ambassador in Turkey Ross Wilson answered the letter of senator Paul Sarbanes and wrote: “I think Turkey should open the border with Armenia, and the US should support the regional integration where all countries of the Southern Caucasus will be included”. The ambassador also noted that the documentation for Turkey integration in the EU didn’t include any requirements concerning opening the border with Armenia. In regard to the blockade of Armenia and Kars-Akhalkalak railway constructions, the ambassador said that the US didn’t have any constituted policy in this connection and hadn’t promised to provide financial support for this project.
