Chess school

There are good, experienced and bad players in the political field just like in chess. But in both of these two fields all players want to play in high category competitions. A lot of grand masters take part in this kind of competitions. By playing with grand masters some people want to practice themselves, and others want to be shown with those well known and experienced players in order to show that they are high class and experienced players too. It has already been one month since some people have started to play with the authorities and with the opposition in connection with the Constitutional referendum and they want to develop their class. The competition results will show how successful they are in this process. But the experience witnesses that in such cases most of them are not lucky, and only a couple of players can make their rating and reputation level go up.

If you pay attention to these games, you will see that most of the grand masters don’t care about these competitions. And if we pay attention to such expressions like “the world will not collapse” or “the most important thing is the will of people, but not “yes” or “no””, we will see that the Armenian international grand masters are not interested in the results of the referendum. They just have to organize this competition in order to delight the international institutions. If we follow the campaign, we will see that this is a very good chance for the governmental and international athletes that play with the oppositionist athletes to be shown on TV and to become popular. And the governmental grand masters are either judges or trainers of this competition, or they just don’t care about this competition. I think this is just a phase for them to get ready for the coming championship. There are a lot of facts that state that the upcoming championship will be more presentable. In this period Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan met ex president Levon Ter-Petrosyan, US ambassador John Evans made campaign among Armenian farmers, Garnik Isagulyan tried to become more sustainable at the president’s office by doing campaign, and as well as Iran made steps to develop their interests in Armenia (the visit of Artashes Tumanyan and the foundation of new powers). As for Russia- they always have their interests here.

Although there are grand masters among the oppositionists too, it is clear that this play is a preparation for the coming play. I think boycott is a passive political action not depending how active their actions are. And it is clear that some oppositionists will lose their reputation and rating after this play. Of course there will be some winners too.
Several weeks ago I said that there would be no revolution after the referendum (now I say the same), but anyway some processes have started. Several famous players both from the government and the opposition play in our domestic political field and sometimes in the international one. And even if they reach success in the domestic political field, it will be very difficult for them to “survive” in the international political field (because there is much difference between them), because here they have to play with very good players. In order to prove this you can pay attention to the recent visit of Arthur Baghdasaryan to Saint-Petersburg, then to Ukraine (by the way, the president of Ukraine recently didn’t accept Aliev’s invitation), and then to Albania. I wonder what the Armenian press is going to write about these visits this time (A. Baghdasaryan doesn’t deny these facts).

One thing is clear: both in chess and politics only those players win, who can think and see several more steps then their competitors do. Of course this concerns real players that are candidates for a champion’s status. And as for the others, they remind me about players that are not professional and play in gardens and sometimes stake at bookmaker offices. Of course both the players and oligarchs try to make right predictions in order to at least not lose their money they have gambled. But I think this mostly concerns people that are close to the authorities, because they are not interested in who the leaders are, but they want to keep their positions in the government. The most important thing for them, first of all, is to predict who is going to be the winner. And as usual these people are not mistaken (probably their sixth sense works well), please pay attention to on whom the people that have removed from one party to another gamble (from Communists’ party to “Pan-Armenian National Movement”, from this one to “Republican Party”, from RP to “Rule of Law” and so on). Please believe me that you will not regret.
