Prosperous Armenia’s satellite

As it was expected, the ANC’s initiative to organize an unscheduled session of the parliament to discuss the issue of the death in Harsnakar restaurant was failed. Instead of the necessary 44 signatures the initiators collected 21 signatures only. The main intrigue was the Prosperous Armenia faction’s behavior, which gave 7 signatures only. This initiative was a really good catalyst to check whether the PA really acts as an alternative opposition as it claims to be. The signature collecting initiative came to prove something that we could see before that too. The problem is not the PA though, but the ANC’s attempts to make best efforts to be embraced by the PA. Since the known analysis last fall concerning the PA, the representatives of that party are not so excited about the prospect of cooperation with the ANC and the best reaction they can show is cold indifference. The sarcasm is that the ANC is making best efforts to define the interests of the PA and serve for those interests, even though the PA does not ask them to do so. ARF representatives said concerning this initiative that even if the session would not be organized, this would help them understand who is who. Despite the expectations that following after that refusal the ANC would call things as they are, indeed they failed to do so. “We are for not blaming each other, but cooperating with each other. This concerns all three political powers, with which we are cooperating in the parliament,” said ANC coordinator Levon Zurabyan concerning the signature collection initiative. Accordingly, the ANC is becoming the PA’s satellite, and maybe one day the ANC will be the same thing for the PA as the Legal State party for the RPA. Since March 1, 2008, the LS has made announcements saying that “with the relations with the ANC they were not for blaming each other, but cooperating with each other.”
