July 5 is mentioned in the Armenian calendar as the Constitution Day. This year people will have four days to celebrate the Constitution Day. The Constitution Day is the most dedicative and maybe also contradicting holiday. It is with regret that people have the feeling that July 5 is an anniversary of commemoration of the rights that are being violated. Speaking of the Constitution during a holiday does not make people happy because they hear officials praising the Constitution, which was supposed to protect their rights but is failing. The bad thing is that the people who are praising the Constitution and making long speeches on TV are usually the officials that violate the same Constitution. In Armenia the basic human rights, including the right for life are being violated. What happened to Vahe Avetyan is the most recent and unfortunately the only last example. The separate laws that are being violated can be written one after another, but those are just crimes in a complex of environment, where the Constitution is not enforced. The ore reason for this situation is the failure to enforce the first and second articles of the Constitution, which are the following:
Article 1: The Republic of Armenia is a sovereign, democratic, social and legal state.
Article 2: In the Republic of Armenia the power belongs to its people.
