Salpi Ghazarian, Director of the Civilitas Foundation, was summoned on the June 15 morning to the National Security Service (NSS) but she refused to give testimony. She stayed there approximately one hour. Talking to Azatutyun.am, Salpi Ghazarian said that in a statement the NSS said that checkups had been conducted in the Foundation which had revealed violations and unmet tax liabilities. "I was invited as a witness but in fact I am a suspect. I cannot predict their next step," she said. Salpi Ghazarian considers the latest developments over the Foundation to be strange, absurd and ridiculous. According to her attorney Artur Grigoryan, according to the norms of the international law if the person is in the suspect’s status he/she may have the right to remain silent. “We refused to give any testimony because their statement says that we made violations, which means we are considered suspects,” said Salpi Ghazarian.
