Oskanyan refused to give testimony to NSS

National Assembly PA faction MP Vardan Oskanyan has been called to the National Security Service again to give testimony, but he refused to say do so. Journalists were waiting for Oskanyan at the building of the NSS and asked him why the PA did not come up with an announcement, even though the PA’s press secretary Tigran Urikhanyan had said that the criminal case might have a political motivation. “I am sure that what he said is what the PA said, but I think a specific announcement will be made at a convenient time. I have informed the party about these developments,” said Vardan Oskanyan. In answer to question whether he had discussed the issue of that criminal case with second president Robert Kocharyan as his teammate of many years Oskanyan said, “This is my problem but not anybody else. I think this is a part of the political struggle that the authorities have chosen, and even if being alone, I will continue struggling. I don’t have any expectations from anyone at this point.” Later during the day Vardan Oskanyan posted the following message on his Facebook wall: “Today I was invited to the NSS to give testimony again. The statement released by the NSS clearly showed that I was being questioned not as a witness but suspected. In consideration of this I decided to use my constitutional right and not to give testimony.” Reminder: on Monday Vardan Oskanyan was called to the NSS to give testimony. He is accused under the third provision of Article 190 of the Criminal Code (legalizing money received through criminal means, which is in fact money laundering), which concerns the activities of Civilitas Foundation established by him.
