Will the electoral code be amended?

10/06/2012

“I don’t want to answer this question yet because on the one hand there are issues to be addressed in the law, and on the other hand only one year remains till the presidential election. I think that such decision should be a result of political discussions,” said RPA representative MP and the main author of the electoral code Davit Harutyunyan in answer to a question whether there would be changes to the law enabling to solve the problems of international and domestic election monitors. International organizations expressed concerned about the fact that the stamps in passports disappeared shortly and also there were shortcomings in voter lists as the same signatures were observed in many lists. The EU suggested in its annual report that Armenia eliminated those shortcomings till the presidential election 2013. “Should we adopt a law on shaking the ink bottle properly to make the ink stay longer or we should have another problem as we will have to amend the law in less than one year before the election?” asked Davit Harutyunyan.
