“We are happy that Vladimir Putin was elected,” said Lyudmila Sargsyan, who is the head of a political power being a member of the opposition ANC power. Several weeks before the election she sent an open letter to the Armenians of Russia petitioning them to vote for Putin. Lyudmila Sargsyan says she believes her petition brought results as the people from Russia that know her have informed her that after her open letter they voted for Putin. Did Putin won the election in free and fair conditions? A large opposition force does not recognize the results and organizes demonstrations. “There have not been fully fair electios so far in any post-Soviet country. Armenia is an exception, where elections proceed through application of brute force, especially during the last 2-3 elections, which were openly violated. If we compare the elections in Russia and Armenia, we can say that the elections in Russia were fair. In any case electoral bribe was not distributed and people could express their free will,” said L. Sargsyan. The latter has not congratulated Putin yet; she will send a congratulation letter after the results of the elections are published. She also said that the petition to vote for Putin was the decision of her party but not the ANC.
