“The Prosperous Armenia party has no reasons not to endorse Serzh Sagsyan’s candidacy,” said PA member MP Vardan Bostanjyan during a recent interview. Several days before the interview Bostanjyan had expressed concerns about the pressure on the PA by the RPA. From the first glance it seems that the rumors saying that Gagik Tsarukyan has agreed to sign the memo on commitment to endorse Sargsyan’s candidacy during the upcoming presidential election are true, but later several members of the RPA announced that Bostanjyan had expressed his own opinion only. This means that the PA representatives want to say that they have reasons not to support Serzh Sargsyan during the presidential election 2013. It was not by chance that following the above mentioned announcement there was information that former foreign affairs minister Oskanyan would not cooperate with the PA as he had announced two days before that. As one of the MPs from the RPA said yesterday, any announcement on the part of Vardan Oskanyan is accepted as the official position of Robert Kocharyan. This logic means that Kocharyan does not like the idea of cooperation between Tsarukyan and Sargsyan. Hardly Bostanjyan would make such important announcement without the approval of the party leadership in the current tense environment. The processes between the RPA and PA continue to develop in a tense environment and the final decisions of these two political powers will be clear after the general meeting of the RPA on March 10. By the way, February 17 is the anniversary of the well-known coalition memorandum. It is not excluded that the RPA leadership may have decided to push signing a new memorandum on that day to make it more official.
