According to our information, following the resignation of the former speaker Hovik Abrahamyan from the parliament the head of the standing committee on state and legal affairs Davit Harutyunyan has been trying and doing his best to get that position. There are rumors that for this purpose he has even asked the former head of the president’s staff Mikayel Minasyan to help him. However, during private conversations D. Harutyunyan refuted the rumors and said that he did not want to become speaker. There are opinions in the political circles that the president does not trust him much, i.e. he still does not understand what Harutyunyan’s political preferences are. It is worth mentioning that Hovik Abrahamyan appointed Harutyunyan deputy head of the pre-election headquarter even before it would be formed. Furthermore, our sources do not exclude the possibility that the RPA pre-election headquarter may have another chief. In answer to our question whether his involvement in the pre-election headquarter was only Hovik Abrhamyan’s decision or also the consent of the president, Davit Harutyunyan said, “As we are still doing the preparation works, I can’t say that those issues have already been discussed and decided in the board of the party.”
