Predictions in vein

12/12/2011

It seems that the conflicts within the coalition are coming to end and there is a possibility that in the near future the coalition powers may come up with announcement to participate in elections with joint list. The representatives of the coalition powers are speaking of such possibility already and with this maybe they are creating conditions for that announcement. “The understanding of political coalition is an alliance and this alliance already exists. Now we have to decide the form of that alliance as a strategy. Certainly we are cooperating now and will continue cooperating in the future as well. The other things and the issues whether we will participate in the elections separately or in a joint lit is strategy and is subject to discussion,” said the head of the RPA faction Galust Sahakyan. After the recent conflicts within the coalition the possible participation of the PA in elections was accepted as treason to the coalition and president Serzh Sargsyan, thus this optimistic announcement on part of Galust Sahakyan shows that an agreement has definitely been reached within the governmental powers to continue the cooperation in the same format. Yesterday PA member Vardan Bostanjyan made the first announcement about the issue, “If it is in the interests of the state, it means that despite all moods and opinions, the political powers should do that way. Based on such possibility I think it is possible that the PA and RPA may participate in the elections with joint list. However, currently this is only a version and is not a final decision yet.” It is very interesting that Bostanjyan said that because one day before this announcement he had said that he had not been informed about it and could not say anything. If Bostanjyan refused to speak on this topic two days ago, and now he does, it means that definitely he has been instructed to develop the thesis of the imperative of “state needs”. Almost the same thing has been said by Heghine Bisharyan, who had been speaking of participation in elections with separate lists. The important thing is not the decision of the LS party what to do in the future, but the fact that they have been instructed to speak of the needs of the state interests too. As far as not all the representatives of the PA who have been charged under the article of possessing and using drugs have been set free, we should wait for new announcements highlighting the need for stability. The most difficult situation will be kept for the ANC as the other parties will start announcing about stability. In spring the ANC used to say that they would not let the situation in the country be destabilized through the return of Robert Kocharyan to active politics (with the help of the PA and ARF), after which the PA gave a commitment of loyalty to the RPA by signing the coalition memorandum. Now the coalition may participate in the elections with joint list, which will also include the PA. We wonder whether the ANC will announce that the PA is going to destabilize the situation (the people-born party as they used to say).
