The conflicts within the ruling coalition not only continue but fluently move from the political field to criminal. After the noisy arrests of a few PA members from the last week the head of the PA chapter of Jermuk Armen Hovhannisyan was arrested yesterday once again with the indictment of drugs possession. Moreover, this is perhaps more serious than the arrests of the last week because the arrested people are considered loyalists of the chair of the PA Gagik Tsarukyan. Even the PA members reiterate that the launched developments are pretty serious by leaving the “ultimate word” to Gagik Tsarukyan, who’s not back from abroad yet. After the latter’s return and perhaps after his “interview” it will become clear what’s happening in the ruling (so far) system. But prior to that, launched assault against the PA caused a series of interpretations. Thus, the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, having used the “political analysis” of Levon Ter-Petrosyan against PA, is trying to receive the ultimate and final oath of trust and loyalty from PA. Other interpretations claim that these arrests have a pre-election essence and the goal is to portray the PA is a suffered and persecuted political party. According to another assumption in these processes Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan also plays a certain role, who stemming from his own interest, does his best to limit the presence of the PA in the parliament. In this case, the problem is not with the PA but the possible return of Robert Kocharyan through the PA in the post of the President (in 2018) of the Prime Minister. As it’s known Tigran Sargsyan is already considered as a candidate of future President and from now on does everything to eliminate the possible encumbrances. At this stage, it’s quite possible that the ANC may become his closest ally and quite realistically Tigran Sargsyan may endorse the ANC in the next election cycle because the latter can be less dangerous for the next presidential race. All these versions may be confirmed or denied by Gagik Tsarukyan even before he gets back to Armenia.
