– Do you agree with the idea put forward by ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan, that if Prosperous Armenia leaves the coalition and struggles for fair elections, the Congress will consider the cooperation possibilities? Do you have any reservation towards Prosperous Armenia political party?
– We do not want to enter into the so called “concreteness”. We consider certain ways to make changes in the country and I don’t intend to publicize the details of our meetings and discussions. I told Levon Ter Petrosyan and the headquarters of ANC about my viewpoints and tried to substantiate them. And I don’t think it correct to talk about my viewpoints concerning certain power or individual. As a leader of ANC Levon Ter-Petrosyan has the right to express his viewpoints as political analyses. On a certain occasion when a lot of people will be out in the streets, I guess among them there will be representatives from various political parties, deputies including RPA representatives. And then ANC will make a decision whether to give them an opportunity to express their viewpoints or not. In my opinion all the political powers existing in Armenia are part of the country and if they have suggestions to solve the issues and want the society to know about them, they are free to do so. But it should be done at a proper time.
– Why do you think that the cooperation with Prosperous Armenia is not purposeful?
– I don’t say that cooperation with a political power is not purposeful. I say that it is not reasonable to discuss cooperation opportunities with any political party 5 months prior to elections. I repeat once again: ANC has the necessary potential to realize all the projects it has aimed to.
– Don’t you think that strategy conducted by ANC, starting from the dialogue up to the announcement concerning Prosperous Armenia weakened that potential?
– I have discussed this with Levon Ter-Petrosyan but we didn’t come to a consensus. I see ANC’s potential and that it is the only power that can resist the incumbent government. All the political powers within the ANC are unanimous as regards to the further actions. I will keep on cooperating with ANC.
– Anyway there is an opinion that ANC’s potential decreased because of that strategy.
– I don’t think that the potential decreased. It can only happen if the government works well and the people start noticing the positive changes in the country. There is no positive change in the country right now. I see the government is concerned about the upcoming elections, I see their useless efforts as a result of which desperate people leave the country. Today ANC is the strongest opposition unit, which can consolidate people around it, if it works well. I can assure that ANC will achieve its objective in spring.
– Do you think as well that there is a tension between RPA and PA?
– The thing is that I don’t want to make such analyses. This is the difference between me and others. For me PA, RPA and LS are equal political parties.
– According to you is there any pressure on PA in the government?
– I guess that in the current situation everything is possible. And as far as I belong to the opposition I am glad to know that it exists. I don’t relate steps undertaken by the opposition with the issues that exist within the government. I want ANC to direct its activities in favor of citizens. ANC shouldn’t be guided by what is going on abroad and make changes relying only on the citizens. I am sure, if the ANC focuses on that, victory is guaranteed.
– According to the Russian media “Vivacell-MTS” company provided 90 billion dollar loan to the family of the co-owner of “Gh-Telecom”. They say that the money will serve for the realization of Ralf Yirikyan’s (General Director of “Gh-Telecom”) political ambitions. Russian media considers R. Yirikyan as a potential candidate for president. What does this announcement mean in the pre-electoral period?
– In my opinion it is one of Robert Kocharyan’s wishes. I don’t know a person named Ralf Yirikyan, let alone his being a politician.
