“The prime-minister is lying”

22/11/2011

PM Tigran Sargsyan’s ‘alcohol debut’ still continues, and what is more surprising, continues due to his statements about it. Last week when the video was circulated we did not write anything about it as we thought that the man could drink and it was his right, sometimes it could happen and it was not worth writing about it. However, Sargsyan himself does his best not only not to forget this story, but continue as long as it is possible. First, in his Internet page he said that he had watched the video and laughed too. However, later in the parliament building he said the following: “To be honest, my grandfather has advised me not to make friends with those who do not drink. During that event there was a technical issue, and our team, which had prepared that event, had not taken into consideration that fact that there could be a technical problem, because the stage was in front of us and the facilities and speakers were far. When I started to speak, the echo was so strong that was hitting me, thus I could not hear what I was speaking. On the other hand I don’t understand the chaos this incident has originated because there were many people there. I was not alone there. There were hundreds of witnesses, who would notice if I was drunk. Wouldn’t the people that were there think that I am lying if I say that I was drunk?” In fact Tigran Sargsyan one more time proves that he is acting based on usual cynicism, i.e. the policy and attempt to represent the lie as the truth. It is done in the same way as the economic slump is represented to be an achievement and development. It is clear that the PM’s team wants to go out of this situation without losing anything, and what is more important, gain an image of a person who likes to make friends, drink and have fun, however, such attempts are useless and will not help him.
