Stop, Armenia

Yesterday at the Convention of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenian the RA President Serzh Sargsyan in fact made his first pre-election speech by outlining the duties of the major businessmen during the upcoming elections. Serzh Sargsyan also spoke about his vision of the development of economy, which evidently shows the insights of the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan. “Search for the answers of “How do we use our potential – capacities, knowledge and experience?” has always been, is and will be present in our reality,” stated Serzh Sargsyan just like Tigran Sargsyan would inspiringly state. He then continued, “And finally, we should reveal values mostly appropriate for our kind. At this point, I would like to deviate from the text a little and propose that we look for these comparative advantages not only in the sphere of high technologies, not only in the industrial area. We should be able to appreciate certain advantages bestowed upon us by nature itself. A group is working currently on that topic trying to develop a huge program. I believe, soon we will suggest our public and first of all our entrepreneurs to participate in a great program which can not only create jobs but also bring stability to our internal economic market. Yes, our future economic growth and long-term development pledge is being transformed.” Nobody knows what pledge the President meant. The problem, however, is not the content of the pledge but the fact that the speech evidently has a pre-election logic. If in this case he hadn’t represented a ruling party then everything would have been clear. But we are talking about the RPA. During the past three and a half years the Prime Minister of Armenia approached the country to failure and fiasco because of being silent about the upcoming 14% economic slump. As a result, he not only wasn’t punished but now represents the political platform of the RPA. Moreover, Serzh Sargsyan’s suggestion to the businessmen to participate in the great pledge cannot be denied by the latter because if so they will appear in front of a broken washboard. And the participation in this pledge would mean provide reproduction for the RPA. Having participated in the pledge each businessman directly or indirectly agrees to participate in the pre-election program of the government. “Business sector should be differentiated from the state sector and government,” after all stated the President by directly reiterated the thought of the Prime Minister made in Brussels. And in this light perhaps the rumors that Tigran Sargsyan is being prepared as a candidate for President 2018 don’t seem very absurd. All we have left to do is pray the God to have more mercy for the Armenian people.
