Prosperous Armenia will not deflect from the coalition

05/11/2011

– The leader of the Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan commented on the recently circulated rumors on the possibility of the PA deflection from the ruling coalition when interviewed by one of the online news agencies.

– What are PAP’s goals and ambitions for the coming parliamentary elections?

– Our ambitions are very logical and predictable – at least maintain PAP’s current level of representation in the parliament and to attempt to attain more.

– What are the chances of the Republican Party of Armenia in the coming election in your thoughts?

– Again, it is very logical that the PAP likewise will work toward maintaining the current level of representation and attaining more. And in general, we announced our common goals several months ago and signed a memorandum in February.

– How would you comment on the rumors abound RPA and PAP?

– Individual media and perhaps also those who expect to “fish in murky waters” “decided” that there was a problem; they concocted stories of new memoranda. I believe our political figures, the press, and the politicians, in general, and since a long time, can distinguish real processes from made-up actions, and such “initiatives” can no longer achieve their goal in our country. The tycoon himself fuelled that speculation about a month ago when he pointedly declined to state, in another interview, whom the PA will support in the next presidential election due in early 2013. He spoke just days after former President Robert Kocharyan, his longtime political patron, indicated his desire to return to active politics.
