Another “suicide”

25/10/2011

Last Sunday another noisy incident of suicide was registered. On October 16 the body of an Armenian businessman was found in his BMW X5 car on Sevan-Yerevan highway, near the village of Getamej. Armen Petrosyan, owner of Aray LTD, a leading chain of stores of electric appliances, was found with a gunshot wound on his temple and a TT pistol in his hand. His right-hand finger was on the pistol’s trigger. The body was found in his own vehicle with the plate numbers 555 SU 22. The police squad that arrived on the scene discovered the BMW X5 in whose driver seat found the body of Armen Petrosyan, 31, with a gunshot wound on his temple and his right-hand finger on the trigger of a TT-type pistol. In the car the police officers also discovered a Browning-type pistol, with 53 cartridges, and one fired capsule. The police also found a black leather bag on the right seat of the car, with a Browning-type pistol, 53 cartridges and one fired capsule. A criminal case has been launched in the investigation department of Kotayk region. The police immediately released a statement that a criminal case was launched based on the first part of article 110 (causing suicide) and the first part of article 235 (illegal weapon, arms supplies, keeping and realizing of explosive substances) of the criminal code. This incident that shook everybody yesterday became a topic of common discussion, including in the social network. Almost all of them thought that the law-enforcers rushed to consider the incident a “suicide.” First of all, it was very suspicious that a successful businessman like Petrosyan would ever think of killing himself. Besides that, even with an unarmed and unprofessional eye it is possible to see from the pictures that it would be at least technically impossible to commit a suicide. Petrosyan was directing the company after the father’s death. Their family business has a broad network in Armenia. Moreover, Petrosyan expanded his businesses in Dubai, Malaysia. And he even owned property there and companies of electronic appliances. Today, the funeral of Armen Petrosyan will be held.
