The police have caught a criminal band on Myasnikyan street, the members of which had weapons, guns, knives, face masks and drugs. The group is suspected in the robbery of houses of high rank officials during the past years. It is worth mentioning that during a discussion with prosecutors the general prosecutor of Armenia said that there was an organized band in Armenia and instructed to unite five cases of crimes in a case and investigate it. The attacks were committed at 04:30-6:00a.m. The groups that attacked houses of high rank officials consisted of 4-5 people with black clothes, masks and guns. The style of the robbery was the same during all these five attacks. Later the police chief Alik Sargsyan said the following concerning the criminals: “They were so skillful that they may have been people who were members of other gangs or, why not, maybe the police too, as they knew the methods criminals work with and did everything to exclude any trances usually criminals leave.” During the operation of the police they found the crashed car of one of the criminals (plate numbers are 60OO086). There were guns and weapons in the car. The man tried to escape from the police and crashed his car down a gorge. Later he tried to escape by climbing a rock but fell down and died. The nickname of this man is Yetum and he was convicted to 9 years of imprisonment in Russia for robbery but spent the punishment in Armenia. The police has instituted legal proceedings and arrested 13 people. There are rumors that children of high rank officials were connected with this gang but the officials refuted those rumors. They also said that the son of criminal investigation department deputy chief Marsel Matevosyan might have been connected with those crimes. Even though he refuted this possibility, but the police have brought his son for testimony. Rumors say his son had been in phone contact with the members of the gang. According to the information of the police, the gang was planning to do another robbery, which was in fact prevented.
