Prime-minister Tigran Sargsyan announced during a recent meeting with the foreign affairs ministry administration and diplomats that in 2011 it is planned to have 4,6% GDP growth. He also made a presentation on the current situation of the economy, the government’s plans and activities for development purposes. The PM said that those efforts and activities also include improvement of the business environment. Specifically, the PM said that during the year the government had fulfilled a number of activities targeted at improvement, and those activities included improvement of the tax and customs policies, adoption of electronic reporting system, as a result of which the physical contact of tax inspectors with businesses would be minimized. “Now in Armenia it is possible to register a company electronically during 15 minutes. This is an important factor of development of the business environment,” said the prime-minister. Unfortunately he did not bring details to inform about the difficulties businesspeople would face after that registration, or how much time they would need to close that business.
