Bad joke

The theme of migration periodically becomes fashionable and bargain-able. The last bargaining was brought up by the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan. During his interview to our newspaper the premier either strangely or sincerely brought up a very interesting analysis. It was so strange that war was waged between the politicians and media. They even demanded his resignation. Everybody was slamming the premier. Even his loyalists did not defend him because everybody good and well understands that the current difficult economic situation was established to the fallible economic policy of the government, as a result of which not only the poor people are migrating but also the rich ones, professionals, young people. They are all fleeing from the country. Sargsyan had to state that he had only joked during the interview. Of course, he didn’t joke but even he did it was a very bad joke. The opposition didn’t miss the occasion and immediately started to circulate his statement without seeing their own fault in that fallacy. The café analysts were just shining. They shine and insist that the premier has naively revealed the recent Mason-Zionist programs of the government. According to those Armenia should be emptied from Armenians. They claim that Armenia should have a maximum of one and half million population. The country with that kind of population can easily resolve certain national issues, such as providing great brides, grooms, teachers to the Diaspora. Instead, it won’t be able to resolve other issues, such as maintain Karabakh, develop a good economy, etc. There is no need to separately present these theses. During the last 15-20 years they have not changed. It is no news that we are linking all our failures with foreign covert forces. But two questions are remaining. The first one if the fact of migration and secondly, both government and opposition are actively speaking about migration. The theme of migration is preferable for the all-time opposition. It is always possible to gain dividends at the expense of split-up families. The opposition only blames the government for all the negative things in the country. Only a few people are interested in the fact that the ones, who migrate, cannot have any hopes from the opposition either. Everybody is unanimous in this – the housewives, the statesmen, etc. The reasons for migration are the arduous social-economic conditions in the country. But only the ones that haven’t seen the conditions of immigrants, who live in Russia, may think this way. And currently most of the immigrants settle in Russia. For example, a part of the ones, who have found jobs in Moscow, live in deserted shacks and wagons. And the ones, who move with their families, settle in two-bedroom apartments together with 3-4 other families. Yesterday during the meeting with journalists the Minister of Diaspora expressed hope that the ones, who live are working immigrants and those leave not forever but for some time in order to take care of their families. The Minister was very sharp in terms of noticing that these people are laborious immigrants. But of course the Minister has slightly exaggerated by saying that they were going to come back to Armenia. The one, who moves his furniture abroad and whatever is possible to move will never come back. But this small mistake can be forgiven. The RA Minister of Diaspora mostly works with the traditional Diaspora. It is possible to persuade only the rich and wealthy Diaspora Armenian to buy an apartment on Northern Prospect or tell about “come home” project. The Minister doesn’t know the attitude of the modern Diaspora Armenian to the Armenian greedy statesman and the feeling of homesickness and missing of the relatives. The Minister is offended by traditional Diaspora Armenians, who do not make enough investments in their historic fatherland despite the fact that the RA President had promised to give them essential tax breaks. But this is a different theme. The urgent question is why our government openly speaks about migration. They speak and publicize official numbers. The response that next year we have elections ahead may sound logical. In the opinion of many people year by year the level of election rigging is reducing. On the one hand, the legislation is being reformed and on the other hand the human resources are being worn out. It has become very difficult to build a team based on fake promises. Now everyone knows that promises won’t be kept. Moreover, they arrest and imprison some of the election violators to blow some smoke to the eyes of the international community, to be complimented by the internationals and in order to temper the political tension. In this case the emptying of the voter lists will essentially facilitate the necessary process of election rigging. They will need several thousand less votes. Perhaps this is the reason why the government openly speaks about migration. The interference of the Diaspora Minister to the theme of migration may have one positive effect. The RA President or let’s say RA Prime Minister may notice how strange the term “RA Diaspora Minister” sounds. Only a Ministry, which is assigned to establish a Diaspora in Armenia, can be called that way. Correct me if I’m wrong.
