At the expense of ANC rating

“Unlike Aliyev Serzh Sargsyan is going to Kazan as a democratic President,” said the ex-prime minister of Armenia Hrant Bagratyan, member of the Armenian National Congress and also added that in regard to the Karabakh issue and the meeting in Kazan that ANC gave something great to Serzh Sargsyan to be able to talk louder than Aliyev. “Through the dialogue HAK gave him some democracy. ANC made a step at the expense of its reputation for Serzh Sargsyan to be able to talk louder,” he said. ANC has learned that the Karabakh issue is getting out of control, and a document is drafted which provides for a concession rather than a compromise. “Perhaps, Serzh Sargsyan even doesn’t know what document it is,” Bagratyan said, noting that the first concession will become endless. “I state on my behalf that I disagree to concessions. The people of Karabakh have their own evaluation, we may agree to a compromise but not a concession,” he said. He said that the Armenian president goes as a president which is conducting dialogue with the opposition and Ilham Aliyev is not. "In Kazan Serzh Sargsyan may speak on behalf of the whole Armenian nation as it is conducting dialogue with the ANC", the speaker said. Continuing the topic Bagratyan noted that in case the ANC decides to have dialogue on the economic part, he is ready. “We clearly understand that Serzh Sargsyan is also guilty for the events of March 1 events. We understand why all this corruption has been originated and who created the oligarchs first,” said Bagratyan. "Sargsyan is no longer viewed as a murder and unlike his Azerbaijan counterpart Ilham Aliyev, Sargsyan leaves for Kazan as a democrat president," said Bagratyan. Armenia’s former premier thinks that in Kazan the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be introduced a new document on mutual concessions. Bagratyan says that Armenia’s economy is built on wrong decisions, and a coordinated approach is needed to reform everything. As a first step towards such efforts, he proposes replacing the prime minister. “I don’t know what’s going on there but it’s very difficult now. I am not saying that we shouldn’t take any compromises but these compromises have to be mutual. According to the information that I have the prepared document relates to compromises and not mutual compromises,” says Bagratyan. As of the meeting in Kazan Bagratyan, “If there is a document that is unacceptable than for the first time Serzh Sargsyan can say that the document is not acceptable for the Armenia people. If he said that before the dialog between the ANC and the government then the international community would say your people is out rallying against you. And don’t speak in the name of the people.” He said that there is certain dispute within the ANC regarding the dialog with the government. “There has been a certain step taken on part of Serzh Sargsyan. I was especially impressed that the political prisoners were released. Of course in political matters Serzh Sargsyan is not like Kocharyan but it’s not enough either. I am trying to maintain this approach within the ANC as well, according to which the political prisoners should have been released ultimately… Justice is restored but not increased. The threat of revolution and drastic reforms should always be in front of the eyes of the government and Serzh Sargsyan,” he said. Bagratyan had a hard time responding to what extent the dialog of the ANC and RPA will stretch around the economic matters. "There are many ways out. Why doesn’t he [the president] relieve Tigran Sargsyan of his duties? What is the use of keeping that guy in office?" he said adding that Galust Sahakyan would be the best candidate for the post. "Sahakyan will sit idle. That would be much more interesting. The authorities cannot find a better candidate. It is impossible to find someone and ask him not to do anything," said Bagratyan.
