Recently the head of “Liberal Progressive Party of Armenia”, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan paid a visit to the USA. According to him, he had several important meetings at the Department of State and the White House. He said that the most important issue he had discussed there concerned the Caucasus: “The hottest point in the world now is Caucasus. There is a tendency to stop military processes in the world and Caucasus is the only place in the world where the situation differs. Azerbaijan and Armenia do their best to strengthen their armies. Georgia, Adzaria and Abkhazia do the same. Iran has made aggressive announcements against Israel…”.
Mr.Hovhannisyan connects these military processes in Caucasus with the existing conflicts in the region and assures that it is very important to find a solution to that problem. “If this doesn’t happen Caucasus will become a region where there will be much weapon collected and it will be difficult to evade war in the future. Currently these parties invest their resources to collect weapons. This problem must be solved very soon; otherwise the region will turn into a powder barrel which can cause an explosion”.
