“The opposition leaders accepted the fact that the people imprisoned as a result of March 1 events were criminals. They agreed with the amnesty, which we may say that was a present to them by the government. In fact it means that the opposition apologized,” said Ramkavar party secretary Edward Antinyan on Friday. He believes that by declaring amnesty the authorities won the rival whether it was due to Ter-Petrosyan or no. “The goal of the first president was to make sure his friends have positions, the imprisoned people are released and the promises given to the relatives of the killed people are done,” said Antinyan. According to the Ramkavar party secretary, in case of participating in the elections the ANC will have problems because now it is a “non-political” power. “The times of charismatic leaders, including Levon Ter-Petrosyan, have passed and people will not follow them anymore. Ter-Petrosyan’s time has passed because he did not make a revolution. If he wants to take part in elections, he will have to do it on equal level with others,” said Antinyan. According to him, Levon Ter-Petrosyan is cheating people because he used to petition them to join the revolution movement, now he is doing the vice versa.
