The Gallup research center has published a report, which tries to find out how people evaluate their lives in 124 countries and what their expectations are for the coming five years. In fact the information about Armenia is horrible. 54% of the respondents said that they are struggling to survive, and 34% said that to live in Armenia is almost the same as suffering. According to the Gallup, only 12% of the respondents said that Armenia is flourishing. Unfortunately the results of this research are close to the real life standards in Armenia, and the proportions clearly reflect the social groups of citizens. Who are the ones that are living well and prospering in Armenia? Those are the oligarchs, businesses and their people that are close to the authorities and are enjoying the benefits. In fact for those 10-12% the conditions in Armenia are not only good but perfect. The other part of the society is simply surviving (the groups of the society that are “struggling” do not see any future even if they don’t have problems with bread and living). It means that Armenia is a country, where only 12% of the society lives normally, and this is on the account of the other 88%. By the way, this 12% can be considered as the real reputation of the authorities among the society.
