Poor people!

The opposition ANC held a demonstration in the vicinity of the Matendaran and later walked to the Freedom Square, which was the continuation of the rally on April 17 with its technical characteristics and content. First, it turned out that the ANC had agreed with the authorities to enter the Freedom Square as Levon Ter-Petrosyan said that he would continue his speech in the Freedom Square. If there was no agreement, the opposition leader would not continue his speech, which was the milestone for building the future strategy of the opposition. The Freedom Square was open for the opposition after negotiations, following which the opposition made the traditional dance and continued the rally. In his speech Levon Ter-Petrosyan said that the ANC would accomplish the fulfillment of its demand “step by step, slowly, in order to keep the country free of shocks and political crisis, not for refusing the struggle methods of revolution but exclusively for not increasing the risk of a war on part of Azerbaijan.” The milestone of the speech was the message that in order to go out of this situation Armenia first of all needs national solidarity, the only way to which is through dialogue between the authorities and the society (at present authorities-ANC). The opposition leader believes there are powers that do not want this, and these powers are the ones that are speaking of a third power and other powers out of Armenia. “My impression is that the dialogue between the authorities and the ANC is not in the interests of internal and external powers because it will take the authorities out of the vulnerable positions and will strengthen our positions in the international relations, specifically from the prospective of the resolution of Karabakh conflict,” announced the first president of Armenia. By an interesting coincidence the steps pointed out by the first president are coinciding with the “challenges” pointed out by the authorities. The authorities are doing their best as well for the purpose of strengthening Armenia’s positions in international relations in resolving Karabakh conflict. It turns out that the ANC want to help the authorities but there are obstacles. Of course the ANChas demands too, but in this situation it is already secondary. The vulnerability of the authorities is first of all connected with their legitimacy, and the first president has said this for many times too. Now he is offering to help the authorities to go out of this situation through a dialogue between the authorities and the society. This means legitimacy for the authorities. According to Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s speech logics, a mechanism of this can be extraordinary parliamentary elections. Meantime the opposition leader says that not the authorities are against this possibility but those who are against the national consent. In a word, the only thing people can do is wishing success to the authorities and opposition on the way of “national consent” as in case of doing this in fact the opposition stops being opposition as it will be identified with the authorities. During elections maybe it will be better for them to be nominated with a joint list in favor of strengthening the positions of the country, especially for contributing to the peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict.
