The PR of the authorities has become very intensive in the sector of agriculture in the recent times and involves larger areas starting from the breasts of cows and ending up with the egg market in the capital city. The committee on protection of competition has found out the reasons why the price of egg grew up rapidly as a result of deficit in the market in December resulting in the price of 110-120 drams per egg. The committee has found out the same thing as the society was speaking of three months ago. The producers of egg have collected their reserves and created artificial deficit, as a result of which the price of egg was increased twice. The committee has selected one of the six egg production companies, the Poultry Company of Lusakert, and applied a penalty of 100 million dram. The authorities can use this amount (300k dollars) for campaign and PR purposes. Actually the authorities did the right thing to apply this penalty to the mentioned company. However, the problem is the fact that the amount of the penalty is significantly lower than the amount of the super-profits these companies have received during those days. According to estimations, these companies received up to two million dollars profit as a result of the speculations in the market of egg during those days. Actually the sum of the penalty is like a ‘tip’ compared to that sum. On the other hand, this speculation might have been stimulated by several companies but the authorities noticed only the Lusakert Poultry Company, the owner of which Khachik Manukyan is not in the list of the businesses protected by the government anymore. By the way, member of the ruling party RPA and member of the parliament Kh. Manukyan says that this is a show too. “This committee is just drawing pictures but the members are bad painters and they cannot make good pictures. The head of the committee is trying to show that he is working hard to raise his image among the government. And as a result of this game I became a target,” he said and added that he would apply to the court against this decision and would not pay this penalty.
