Our publication on the Bentley automobile of the clergyman of Ararat wing of the Apostolic Church Navasard (Samvel) Archbishop Ktchoyan has gained quite a resonance at various levels. During this period, however, the Armenian Apostolic Church didn’t respond to any of that information or any of the concerns raised. Perhaps the reason is that the church leadership is quite aware where the Archbishop drives to by that car. And while the readers would make various assumptions let us present the place, where most probably Ktchoyan visits with pleasure with his luxury car in order to isolate himself and for the purpose of spiritual inspiration. The sculptures depicted in the picture are not collages and not the pieces of amateur sculptors. Those are the sculptures of the Archbishop, which are placed… in the religious school near the church of Oshakan after Saint Mesrop Mashtots. This foundation, which is considered a scientific and a religious center, was established in 1997 with the efforts of the 131st Catholicos of all Armenians Garegin A and so the plans of Catholicos Vazgen A came true. But judging from the official biography of Ktchoyan the school was established thanks to him. Nonetheless, one of the sculptures of sculptor Levon Tokmajyan is the bust of Navasard Ktchoyan (see page 2). As this picture shows the next three-piece sculpture the Archbishop stands next to Trdat III sculpture, who adopted Christianity as state religion in 301 and Saint Grigor Lusavorich in the role of Mesrop Mashtots and the alphabet in his hand. It is interesting to find out whether the church will somehow react to the statue of the live Archbishop, who is erected next to the statues of the saints. Or maybe Ktchoyan has indulgence in regard of these questions as well. By the way, we think that it wouldn’t be bad if Levon Tokmajyan created some other sculptures of Ktchoyan with his apprentices. In the role of Koryun could be for instance Tigran Sargsyan, who is both close with the Archbishop and has insatiable passion for science.
