In the recent times there are opinions that the servants of the Armenian Apostolic Church have become friends with the pro-government oligarchic system. These opinions, which sometimes seem to be exaggerated, are proven in the real life. For example, the substitute of the religious leader of the Armenian Araratian Branch of the Church, Navasard (Samvel) archbishop Kchoyan has received a present from his godson. This expensive present is a Bentley. The spokesperson of the Araratian Branch and archbishop Kchoyan confirmed this information during a phone conversation with our correspondent. The latter gave answers and spoke in a manner, which does not differ from the manner of speaking of oligarchs in general. In answer to the question whether the present will be given to the Church he said, “Girl, it’s not your business. Why are you digging in my personal life?” This expensive gift was given to the deputy head of the Araratian Branch of the Armenian Church, who is considered to be a close friend for the authorities, specifically the prime minister. According to our information, the price of this Bentley is approximately $180-200,000k. In fact this expensive gift will not be given to the Church, otherwise he would say it himself. Meanwhile, this and several other representatives of the Church are knows with their efforts to raise funds from the Diaspora, and they often take part in fundraising events and try to raise funds for building churches in Armenia. After all this people still are surprised why American Armenian Kirk Kirkorian decided to terminate the support to the Linsy foundation.
