Turkish Airlines company wants to transport Armenians from the US to Armenia through the territory of Turkey. According to the Turkish Hurriyet this announcement was made by the head of the Turkish Airlines company Hamdi Topchu during a reception. The latter said that their company wanted to become a bridge between the US and Armenia. “500,000 Armenians live in Los-Angeles, most of who have migrated from Armenia. They want to see the lands of their grandparents. We want to transport them to their homeland through Istanbul,” said Topchu and emphasized that they had met with presidents of many Armenian organizations in the US to discuss this issue. He said that the Turkish Airlines does not organize charter flights between Turkey and Armenia yet but they had opened an office in Yerevan. He said that he hoped the projects implemented by their company would contribute to recovering the friendly relations between the people of Armenia and Turkey. “If our projects come true, it will significantly contribute to the friendship of the people. I believe that every Armenian who flies to Istanbul by the planes of the Turkish Airlines and stays there for at least one day will change their opinion about Turkey and Turks. We have lived together as brothers for 500 years. Armenians have a great investment in the arts of Turkey. Besides that, there was a time when they occupied high positions in Turkey” Said Topchu.
