The Turkish president Abdullah Gull is going to send a delegate to Armenia to ask the RA president Serzh Sargsyan for Armenia’s vote for the Turkish candidate in the position of the OSCE general secretary. According to the Turkish media, Gull’s letter will be passed to Serzh Sargsyan by the Turkish candidate for the OSCE secretary’s position Ersin Erchin. He has announced about his visit to Armenia in March, as well as said that the Turkish president’s letter to the Armenian president is an expression of a good will. “I will leave for Armenia as Gull’s special representative. My visit to Yerevan is a message already. Our president’s message is that Turkey will adopt a neutral position in the OSCE and the general secretary will be neutral as well. My visit to Armenia will also put a way for overcoming the psychological barriers between the people of the two countries,” said Erchin. Besides Erchin the candidates for the OSCE general secretary’s position are PACE GA president Joao Soaresh, Austria’s former foreign affairs minister Ursula Plasnik and the UN’s envoy on Kosovo Lambert Zanner. A candidate is considered in the OSCE elected only in case of receiving the votes of all candidates.
