The resignations of high-level officials and substitutions have become a sort of a soap opera in Armenia. There is certain interest in the society in relation to this process but in fact whatever is happening within the government has almost no linkage with the society and public moods. The government is being self-changed and self-replaced. After that the country will keep developing in the same direction and the government will keep working in the same manner. And perhaps that is the reason why the recent developments and resignations of various officials don’t fit in any logic. Traditionally, almost all the officials that quit, leave based on their “own request” and the new ones are appointed based on the high level will of the government elite. And the propagandistic interpretations, according to which all this is done to cleans the government and the state system, to get rid of dishonest statesmen, to punish the bad workers, becomes simply ridiculous. In fact only the first persons of the sectors are being replaced or dismissed. The system and infrastructures remain the same. It remains at the point when the government has decided to “self-cleanse.” Thus, mildly said, it becomes unclear that a part of the government members are fired due to bad functioning, violations of norms of ethics, cases of abuse and other matters. And their direct boss, the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan continues fulfilling its only function – making theoretic judgments. Tigran Sargsyan is one of the main responsible ones for the miserable state of the Armenian economy. Since the presidency of Serzh Sargsyan Tigran Sargsyan has occupied the post of the Prime Minister and so far he has been shining with the fact that during that period he has incrementally increased the foreign debt of Armenia, adopted over a dozen hilarious strategies and continues treating the Armenian economy as an experiment field. So what is what they call “systematic” reforms if let’s say Tigran Sargsyan’s ideological supporter Nerses Yeritsyan is fired but his sponsor still remains his post? What is the point of all this if the head of the social security service Vazgen Khachikyan is fired because of his bad work and work abuses if only a week ago the Prime Minister was lauding the increase of pensioners and social reforms? This series can be continued but nothing can be changed from that. The most terrible thing is that even if Serzh Sargsyan decides to replace Tigran Sargsyan then he will be facing the same issue as he faced during the recent days… In Armenia is a real “shortage of professionals.” Even with a loupe it will be impossible to find in the government someone, who’d be more or less professional, more or less frugal and more or less acceptable for the society. On the other hand, the governmental system is so slandered and vilified that the people, who have these qualities, will hardly agree to submit these posts.
