The staff changes of the recent period are being discussed at various levels and various opinions are expressed in this regard. The governmental propaganda describes the resignation of Gagik Beglaryan and Gevorg Danielyan as a beginning of a new “axis,” which the government turns its face to the people and society and that it takes certain steps based on the pressure of the public opinion. Indeed, it would be great if this wasn’t merely propaganda and that this was the actual approach of the government. It would also be desirable if all this had a continuing character. The affairs on the foreign policy front seem to prove the opposite. In the framework of his working visit to Moscow President Serzh Sargsyan yesterday participated in the works of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), during which he had repeated what he had said in Astana in the beginning of the month in Astana Summit, which related to the recognition of the NKR. “… Armenia is critically against the use of force in the resolution of the NKR conflict. In the event of the continuous provocation of Azerbaijan Armenia will have to de jure recognize Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in case of military actions by Azerbaijan and, it will have to undertake measures to ensure the security of autonomy in order to provide security for our people,” said Serzh Sargsyan during the CSTO Summit in Moscow. He once again repeated the thesis brought up in Astana, which immediately deserved the criticism of the opposition and other broad public circles. Let us remember that in Astana after the speech of Sargsyan many opinions were heard that it is unacceptable for Armenia to connect the recognition of the NKR with the military aggression of Azerbaijan and that by that the idea of the independence of Karabakh is being desecrated and degraded. About a week has passed since Astana Summit. After the return to Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan didn’t comment on his statements made in Astana. Moreover, he didn’t even bring up arguments to justify his statement. And so if the government has decided to turn its face to the society it should first of all demonstrate it when it comes to the NKR conflict and not just by firing presumptuous statesmen. And so if the government really wants to make radical changes in their style of activity then the demonstration and contents should matched.
