Political prisoner Felix Gevorgyan will be released today. This information was publicized by the head of the PR department of the RA penitentiaries Arsen Babayan. In his words the penitentiaries’ department has given an approval to either release 16 prisoners or temper their punishment period and conditions. This was approved by the commission. Among those prisoners is Felix Gevorgyan. According to me the final decision of the release of these political prisoners will be decided by the court. Babayan however didn’t tell us who will be released from among the opposition members and when the process will take place. Felix Gevorgyan was arrested in the wake of post-election clashes of March 1, 2008. He was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment.
