During her interview to Asbarez newspaper, which is released in the US, the US Ambassador to Armenia Mari Yovanovitch, when speaking of the NKR conflict mentioned that there is a common understanding that the conflict cannot be resolved without the participation of the people of the NKR. “I think that at some stage the NKR will be involved in the negotiation process but all the parties should agree to that, including Azerbaijan. It’s clear that we haven’t reached this phase yet.” She also spoke about the precedent of Kosovo by saying that it is not right to follow the precedent of one conflict by resolving another conflict because each conflict is unique. As of the possible linkage of the NKR and Armenian-Turkish relations, the Ambassador mentioned that the two processes shouldn’t be linked.
