Armenia will move forward

“There is still a long way to pass before being able to move forward,” said the head of the Mckinsey & Company Dominique Barton. This company has 96 offices in 50 countries of the world and provides advisory support and expertise to a variety of governments and successful companies operating in different sectors in the world. The head of the National Competitiveness Fund Bekor Papazyan says that the Mckinsey&Company has already conducted a research concerning the healthcare and tourism business projects of the Armenian national Competitiveness Fund. Specifically, the Revival of Tatev project was made based on the research and expertise by this company. Barton says that currently Armenia’s reputation from the prospective of competitiveness is not high as according to the information of the global competitiveness forum our country is in the 97th place. However, he said that Armenia has the potential and wish to become compatible. “Armenia is actively working in this direction. Besides that Armenia has qualified labor and there are more qualified specialists in different sectors in Armenia than in other countries, which is one of this biggest stimulus of development,” he said. Despite the opinions dominating in the country Barton said that due to its geographic location Armenia is in a very beneficial position in the world and this is one of the most important factors for raising the level of competitiveness of Armenia. “There is a long way to pass, after which Armenia will move forward,” he said. Barton says that in our country some accents should be changed because the country depends on the import of raw materials, “It is possible, Armenia should develop the IT sector not to be forced out of the consumers’ markets.” The president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has accepted Dominique Barton. The president said he hopes that the participation of a representative of a world-famous company in Armenia’s National Competitiveness Fund will be highly useful not only for the board of the fund but the business community of Armenia as well. Serzh Sargsyan said that for the development of the economy of Armenia it is important to examine the experience of the successful companies in the world and take lessons.
