Recently a video was posted on Facebook, which from the first look reminds of the incident in Yeghnikner. That video was posted on the Youtube several months ago (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4GDJRHqXNk&feature=player_embedded) but unlike the previous one, in this tape the events are happening in Yerevan, at a school in the center of the capital city. In the video it is clearly seen how a teacher with a big body punishes schoolchildren by using different words such as “I will break your head, I will break your fingers, you dumb…” This man hits a schoolchild by using such expressions. Yesterday we found out the name and some information about this teacher. This video was recorded with a mobile phone in a classroom at school #8 after Pushkin, in the center of Yerevan (by the way, this school is famous for being a school for elite and rich people). The man who was beating the child in the video is a history teacher named Eduard Gevorgizov, whose father used to work at the same school for years as well. Nobody cares about the attitude of the education sector authorities. For example, the school director Marietta Matghashyan not only did not hide the fact of violence against the child but also says that she is surprised, “It happened in March, after which we convened a council of teachers, where we discussed the incident and the teacher apologized, and the child and his parents forgave the teacher and the they closed the semester. I don’t understand why they managed to raise that issue now. No school can be free of such things. The pupil behaved very badly that day, which made the teacher reach the critical point of his emotional behavior. He is a man, it happens to everyone, but it is a very bad thing and there is no justification for that.” By the way, the authors who posted this link on Youtube have explained in the forums why they had done that. In answer to a comment of a visitor that it would be good if the father of the child could punish the teacher in front of the entire class, the authors of the video wrote that he failed to do so, that is why they decided to post the video on the web. The director of the school says she will not fire the teacher, “He is a man of a specific character so I think he will resign himself.” The worst thing is that we are living in a country where such “idiots” are not refused by the society and even can be justified by their directors. Such people may even get good positions.
