On the threshold of winter, when ordinary citizens worry about the expected growth of prices of food and communal expenses, the analysis and predictions of politicians about the expected active changes in the political sector are totally strange. The parties and politicians are pretending that they believe that people are following their words attentively not to lose any words and opportunity to make an opinion to be prepared for the parliamentary elections in 2012.
The rival for the purpose of gaining places in the reconstructed hall of the parliament has started long ago. Do the parties that are going to run have real expectations?
“Now we should understand two things; nothing is changed with elections in Armenia and will not ever change. I am telling it to you openly. Even if we come to the next circle of elections, after the elections we will have to do everything through a revolution,” said the head of New Times party Aram Karapetyan yesterday during a meeting with journalists. What resources can be used for that purpose? Mr. Karapetyan says that the political sector and parties are totally spoilt, and he believes that the National Security Service has many agents in their party.
All parties of the country want to get the power, but it must be done exclusively through constitutional order. It is very hard in practice, of course if nationalistic powers don’t activate in connection with the issue of Karabakh conflict, who will go too far without thinking twice.
The opposition Armenian National Congress is not suggesting revolution as a tool for changing the government, but instead they are insisting on holding extraordinary elections. The ARF has announced about the need for a new government too during a recent rally in Ashtarak. The Heritage will explain its struggle for the power with the need of the change of government too. As a proof, they don’t exclude the possibility of making an alliance with the ANC during the upcoming elections, which means that they may run in the elections with a joint list. What will be the sequence of the places in the list? This alliance may come true only after clarifying this issue, but it is not excluded that it may not happen generally.
The Prosperous Armenia is making changes in the party too and these changes of the people show that they are going to enlarge the scope of their supporters. Will the president of the PA appear in the next convocation of the parliament? Recently during a meeting former member of the “Karabakh” committee Ashot Manucharyan spoke of the issues of the projects of the West. According to his information, “oligarchs will not have places in the new parliament”. Even more, “all the oligarchs who are dreaming of appearing in the parliament in 2012, may appear in prisons”. As for prisons, it is dark there and there are mice. Also, the oligarch and monopolist of sugar import Samvel Alexanyan does not know that according to the information of Nycol Pashinyan, who is in the prison of Kosh now, prisoners are deprived of even one spoon of the sugar he is importing. We hope his predictions will come true, at least the one about oligarchs. But to be real, hardly it may be true. Mainly the oligarchs and criminal authorities are the ones who are responsible for distributing electoral bribe, taking people to polling stations by vans, using human resources for electoral violations and beating journalists during elections. For this purpose they need personal immunity and a certificate for a civic status, which is provided by the MP tickets they get.
It is like that doesn’t matter how much Mr. Manucharyan says that “now the influence of the West is much stronger in making the parliament than the influence of Russia”. According to the Western project, it turns out that our future parliament will consist of young professionals. This can hardly be true because as a rule in our parliament the age plays a big role and hardly people may respect the words of a young guy with a birth certificate rather than old people such as Galust Sahakyan or Razmik Zohrabyan.
By the way, only the representatives of the Republican party are calm and they don’t worry. This is what deputy chairman of the RPA Razmik Zohrabyan says. He said the following to Azatutyun radio station: “The political powers that do not believe in their powers, i.e. their powers that they can get many votes during elections, certainly are starting the campaign sooner. The powers that believe in their potential are starting the campaign in time like we do. Now we are not campaigning among the citizens as there is one and half years till the elections”.
That was the international day of smile.
