Embassies are humiliating people

Scientists and students who want to study abroad are facing serious problems with Embassies when trying to get entry visas to those countries. According to the head of the Academic Cooperation and Support Armenian Association (ARMACAD), professor of the Yerevan State University department of Iranian studies Khachik Gevorgyan, Embassies even sometimes refuse to give entry visas to those students who are invited to take part in academic seminars or conferences in other countries and are not going to stay there. “It seems they should not have any problems as the inviting party is taking the responsibility to pay all expenses. I don’t know why students and professors of universities have serious problems with Embassies. Sometimes the policies of Embassies enter into a contradiction with the education and scientific policies of their countries. This is a very bad thing and it seems they are creating artificial obstacles for the educational and scientific development of Armenia. You can’t find anyone in Armenia who is sure that he/she will be humiliated at the Embassy and even may not get the visa,” said Kh. Gevorgyan to the 168 Hours. Recently a young girl got admission in the university of Wyoming (USA). She had visited the US before to study. The Embassy did not give an entry visa and said that she did not have sufficient family relationship in the US.
