World famous Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk has received the German publishers’ 2005 Peace prize. Let’s recall that during one of the interviews with a Swedish newspaper edition, Orhan Pamuk said that 1 million Armenians and 30,000 Kurds had been killed in Turkey after which an action had been brought up against him in Turkey. “I think that anyone living in Turkey must freely talk about what happened to Armenians in the Ottoman Empire,” said Pamuk while receiving an award in Frankfurt. Pamuk referred to the action brought up against him as yet another step towards preventing Turkey from entering the European Union. “I certify all that I am saying. What’s more, I certify my right to make a rumor about my perspectives,” said Pamuk.
