Yesterday at the opening ceremony of central headquarters of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev again spoke about Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and regulation of the Karabkh conflict through military actions. He only spoke about the surrender of regions adjacent to the former NKAR and the corridor between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Despite the revenge sauce, Aliyev’s speech looked even detailed. During his 40-minute speech, Aliyev laid the accent on the Karabakh conflict and updated Madrid Principles." Azerbaijan agreed in principle with these proposals. The other side agrees or not, or is still working on tightening time. If the opposite party – Armenia does not respond positively to these proposals and if we find the peace process exhausted, we shall give preference to the military path," Aliyev said and added that international law supports their position in this case. “First of all, “occupying” forces are to withdraw from all “occupied” areas near the NKR. Five regions are to be liberated immediately, two regions- Kelbadjar and Lachin- after a certain period. The reason is that Kelbadjar and Lachin regions are situated between Karabakh and Armenia. Between Karabakh and Armenia a road – a corridor is functioning. Though, perhaps, more time will be needed for this. There is a corridor between the NKR and Armenia and Azerbaijan has given its consent to this corridor” said Aliyev. He also mentioned that peacekeeping forces should be placed at the administrative border of Nagorno-Karabakh. “This status will not break the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and all the territories should be in control of Azerbaijan. This means that the Azerbaijani citizens have to return to Nagorno-Karabakh and Shushi,” he said. It is quite clear that the statements of Aliyev are basically addressed for the internal audience. But in this statement he is bringing up concrete provisions – 5 regions, 5-year deadline, peacekeepers, etc. And if these are brought up merely for propagandistic purposes then the Armenian side should bring up concrete arguments. And what does Armenia do? The foreign affairs ministry of Armenia prepares a statement with general formulations, which reveal the demeaning image of Aliyev. And the ruling political party in the face of Edward Sharmazanov literally sends Aliyev to hell. "It becomes clear from the boring report of the Azerbaijani Sultan that he will soon introduce a new nomination of folk-tales for juggling facts and presenting a lie as the truth. Simply, the tales of Sultan Aliyev are no longer in demand: as usual they are ignominious," spokesman for the Republican Party of Armenia Edward Sharmazanov said. "Aliyev does not want to understand that the people of Nagorno Karabakh should decide their fate themselves as is stated in the principles proposed by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair. I would like to remind narrator Aliyev that his motherland Azerbaijan emerged as a country only two millennia later,” added Sharmazanov. This young man can indeed be awarded with a medal of “courage.” It is even worth organizing a competition on, who’d be better able to punish Aliyev better. As a matter of fact, this hysteric reaction comes to prove that the Armenian side doesn’t have any arguments to deny the Azerbaijani side. Otherwise, we’d be able to provide some counter-arguments in parallel with truly justified swear words.
