The international community should eventually understand that Nagorno Karabakh should be a subject but not an object. This was told to the Radio Liberty by the vice-speaker of the House of Lords of the Great Britain Caroline Cox. According to her, it is very wrong that Azerbaijan is hindering the negotiations around the topic of Karabakh’s future. She said that she understands and agrees with the people of Karabakh that hence they cannot live under the rule of Azerbaijan as during the tenure under Azerbaijan’s rule they have seen a lot of trouble and added that Karabakh has had a big shortcoming during these years. She believes the world does not know what has happened in Karabakh during the armed conflict. She says that despite the Armenian party, Azerbaijan raised a lot of noise for Khojalu, even though what had happened in Maragha was more awful. She says what happened in Maragha was a massacre against the humanity and adds that on April 10, 1992, she was in Maragha and she saw beheaded and burnt Armenians there. Caroline Cox said that the Armenian party should tell about how Azerbaijan used cassette weapons against Karabakh. “I am calling on the Armenian party to wake up, tell the world about what happened to you in the beginning of 90s. Campaign for your truth; today the international community believes in Azerbaijan,” she emphasized.
She says that the international community should understand that Azerbaijan tried to do ethnic cleaning in Karabakh but failed; it implemented a planned policy of exiling Armenians from Karabakh. Concerning the relations between Armenia and Turkey she said that she appreciated the willingness of the Armenian party to develop relations. However, she believes that such relations can be a great present from Armenia to Turkey, a country, which has always acted like it is. “They should show the real face of Turkey,” said Caroline Cox.
