President Serzh Sargsyan has issued an order to dismiss Haik Harutyunyan from the position of the state protections service chief. With another order Haik Harutyunyan was appointed head of the RA plenipotentiary institutions. This position was free since Ashot Giziryan was appointed governor of Shirak region last week. The sources of information from the government say the reason of these replacements is not connected with their will to see them in these positions. Haik Harutyunyan’s former position, i.e. the position of the state protection chief is considered one of the key positions in Armenia. Since the recent inner conflicts within the government and the rumors on Kocharyan’s return to politics it is already very important for the authorities who will hold this position. According to the sources of information from the government, this is the reason why the president wants to give this position to Vachik Ghazaryan, who is one of his loyalists and best people. Definitely this appointment will be done next week, which will prove one more time that there are conflicts of interests within the government.
