Nairit factory does not work because of the debt of 1 billion dram to the Electric Networks of Armenia company. This company used to produce about 100 thousand tons of cautchouc during the Soviet times, but during the past five years it has produced only five thousand tons. It is the reason why the company is having losses and can’t pay the gas and electricity debts. In addition, the situation in the company is very dangerous and there is a risk of explosion. The problem is the fact that in parallel with the production of cautchouc another chemical material is produced as well, which used to be exported to Russia.
Currently the factory does not have buyers for this chemical material and keeps it in the depots. If it is not used, it may be dissolved during the time and cause dangerous effects on the environment and health of people. This situation is a result of negligence and non-responsible behavior on part of the management. Ishkhan Aghajanyan, an elder specialist of Nairit company and candidate for chemical sciences has this opinion too. In 2006 Mr. Aghajanyan recommended a new version of work to the management of the company to escape from the problem of the dangerous waste. He recommended to use this dangerous waste to produce paint to use both in the factory and out of it. In one year the company produced about 600 kilos of paint for the purposes of tasting it and doing some other work as well. Mr. Aghajanyan assures that the tests were not done because of non-responsible approach to this work and lack of control. In several years, when the new director learnt about this fact, the employees submitted a report showing that these tests had been done. However, the candidate of the chemical sciences assures that the paint was not tested and this work was ignored.
He says they learnt about this fake report by chance because they had been sent home for holiday until they would call them to work again. “I did not wok because I was not an insider. The factory management don’t care about the professional school, scientific title and good work. The education and work don’t matter to them; what matters is being one of their team.” He has written two letters to the general director informing about the fact that the paints had not been tested, but these letters were ignored. After returning from holiday he ordered to make paint from 25-30 kilos of the chemical waste and test the paint. “In two days after I gave this order the head of the scientific center Emil Voskanyan returned from business trip and strictly ordered me to give up on the tests, otherwise he would fire me,” said the employee of the company. When the manager of production line of the company tried to find out why the works had not been done, he talked to Voskanyan, they came to an agreement and decided to tell the general director that they were not able to do that work. However, when the elder specialist told them that he would complain, even to the president, they stopped it.
This year the head of the production of the factory has given a fictive order to provide the necessary materials for testing the paint, but they are failing to do it. There is more than 1000 tons of ethanol in the factory, which may explode any time. The mentioned recommendation of the candidate of chemical sciences can help to reduce this risk of explosion and even get income. There is a chaos in Nairit now. “It is the ghost of 1937 when the truth is accepted as heroism,” he said. As it was useless to rely on the factory management, Mr. Aghajanyan received 12 kilos of testing material of the paint with his own efforts, which was tested by the commission on March 1 of this year.
“By his evident negative demeanor the president of the experimental commission tries his best to impede to ensure that the rest of the members of the commission do not give a positive assessment. In the meantime, the produced paint should first of all have been used on painting the pipelines and devices of the factory in order to protect them from corrosion. They should have done this work, which according to them is an extra burden. Up until now this issue is unclear when there is the opportunity of relieving the problems of the factory,” the senior scientific specialist of the factory was telling with fury. I. Aghajanyan has submitted for experiment another invention relating to chloroprene rubber but during the past year he hadn’t received any response. “I haven’t received any material support from the factory for this work. I have done everything with my own means. I have established a laboratory. But many millions are being circulated in Nairit, aren’t they? They are not able to do anything on their own and they deprive the specialists of elementary opportunities of working. These are only two examples of irresponsible work of the management of the factory. But there are many such examples.” Mr. Aghajanyan was also angry that a candidate of science and specialist with great abilities is making only 85 thousand AMD in the factory. The over 12 deputy-directors of the factory are making 3-4 million each. According to the specialist the reason of indifference to his inventions is that the management of the factory is so devious and has so many secrets that it doesn’t wish to have anybody interfere in their affairs by trying to self-defend. “It seems that we are living not in a state but in an unorganized territory, where violence and frivolity prevails. And Nairit is the mirror reflection of our state – imitation, corruption and lack of control,” says the factory employee.
