Station for two

The president’s office spokesman Armen Arzumanyan says president Serzh Sargsyan has accepted the US president Barack Obama’s invitation to take part in the nuclear secutiry summit to in Washington on April 12-13. By “coincidence” this announcement was released at the same time when the Turkish media published information writing that the Turkish PM Rejep Tayyip Erdogan had changed his mind not to visit the US and would take part in the summit. It means that there is a possibility that Sargsyan and Erdogan may meet in Washington. It is clear that this was the purpose why Obama invited Sargsyan to Washington. If this meeting takes place, it will serve not for the purpose of improving the relations between Armenia and Turkey (as the parties and official propaganda will report) but will give an opportunity to Obama not to pronounce the word “Genocide” in his speech of this year on April 24 by referring not only to the protocols, but the “constructive meeting” as well. Definitely the reason why Erdogan changed his mind was this arrangement.
