Today the “Republic” political party will hold a special meeting near the Matenadaran. There will be 500-600 chairs placed beforehand for party members in order to create a normal environment. Aram Sargsyan had called a press conference yesterday in order to clarify why they needed to have a special meeting. “It turns out that the government deprives us of our right to carry out our actions freely by not providing us with a hall, which is considered as the illegitimate authorities’ consecutive try to requite the opposition,” said Suren Surenyants. A. Sargsyan considers this decision made by the authorities as simple provocation. The authorities are trying to motivate the opposition to take certain measures. “They think that we are not ready but they are. We are ready for anything, but we will not go along with provocations,” said Sargsyan and added that they will do everything at the right time. In response to the question as to why the authorities provided leader of the “National Unity” political party with a hall, A. Sargsyan said: “I don’t think that they are trying to prove that they have good contacts with Artashes Geghamyan or Mr. Bazeyan by providing them with halls. That is not the problem. It’s just that the authorities are going along with the provocation of the 1960s KGB.” He also said that he was certain that the decision to not provide them with a hall was not made by the Prime Minister. As to whose decision it was, he refused to answer. The “Republic” party has informed the Yerevan municipality by a written statement about their intention of holding a meeting at the Matenadaran today. Doesn’t the political party fear that the authorities might consider the meeting as illegal and take certain measures? “If the authorities try to disturb us, it’s okay. We have the Opera square nearby, there is a square to gather near Martiros Saryan’s statue, we might even do a political trade during the meeting,” says leader of the political party. The latter, who had came to the meeting with an orange or as he likes to call it apricot tie, informed us that if there were any violations during the referendum, they were ready to call on all their members to leave the board meetings at 5 p.m. In his words, a contraposition will take place in the framework of the referendum. “Contraposition is just an idea. There will be no leaders during that time.” He believes that a movement is taking shape which will go against the authorities.

P.S. During the conference regarding the meeting taking place at the Matenadaran, leader of the “Republic” political party Aram Sargsyan stated that Albert Bazeyan had not been invited to take part.
