Currently Armenia is like a hospital, where to understand the situation of patients they take the cumulative mean temperature of all patients: one is cold like ice-cream in the mortuary, others are not, but the mean temperature is 36,6.
The environment of misunderstanding and mistrust between the authorities and society exists between the servants of the Armenian Apostolic church and believers as well. After the presidential elections those who had expectations from the Catholicos had to limit their expectations. But believers would like the religious servants understand them and talk to them face to face. On the air of the national channel a respected servant of the Armenian Church said that those who are against building Saint Poghos-Petros church instead of the summer hall of Moscow cinema house after collapsing it are under the influence of dark forces. His words were disappointing for believers and in fact the excuse of not collapsing the summer hall of Moscow cinema house is their willingness not to build a church there.
It is not good to say that over 4000 believers of our church are under the influence of dark forces, especially when one can read names of prominent people in that list.
The architects of the Armenian Apostolic Church say that a church should be built in open and free areas, and the summer hall of the cinema house is a good architectural work, but the church servants say that this noise is because of the fact that they are going to build a church there but not a night or leisure club. By the way, this statement is very correct because the same people who signed under this document have not struggled for the architecture of the city in the past and did not do anything when the houses and buildings with historical architecture were being ruined in the city.
It is true that if any oligarch or businessman wanted to build a night club or entertainment centre in the place of the summer hall there would not be so much noise. However, the church servants know that at least up to now the society did not have the opportunity to solve issues through expressing opinions. And now, this issue is raised by people, who are considered to have lost their political orientation, i.e. writers, certain representatives of the intelligentsia and other groups. They are raising this issue because they deal with people from the church, who are more intelligent, and at least they can persuade them that the purpose is very good but the means are not calculated well.
A representative of the S. Echmiadzin Church said that as a Christian he would like his son to see more churches in Yerevan than night clubs or advertisement posters. Hardly there may be anyone to stand against this statement.
However, we would like to remind our religious fathers that we are not collapsing a night club or leisure center but a culture center. We agree that if the religious people had the opportunity to stop the activity of any night club or casino and build a church instead, hardly anyone would stand against them. If the fathers of our church decided to build churches in the suburbs and remote regions of Armenia, where because of the absence of the church other religious directions are occupying villages, people would not oppose either. If they even organized money collection campaign for this purpose, everyone would take part in it too.
Any logical statement, which is against the wish of the religious servants, should not be accepted or interpreted as against the God or a war against the initiative to build a church. Even if not for not ruining a center of arts, but at least for giving a place to the petition of hundreds of people the church decides not to collapse the arts center, they will have more trust and belief of people.
